The discussion board is a place to share reflections and ideas with other classmates on course material.

You can participate in this dialogue by posting answers to questions or comments to threads on a specific topic.

Your instructor can choose to enable peer-review of classmates' posts by assigning a rating from 1-5 to grade least to most insightful or relevant.

  • Reply directly to a post

Create a discussion board post

  1. Click Discussions from the course menu on the left-hand side
    Instructors can make a link to the Discussion Board tool on the left-hand side course menu or embed them with specific course content.
  2. Open a forum
    Note: Forums are organized by topic and can be graded and moderated.
  3. Select a thread you would like to reply to
    Note: Threads are created by instructors to organize different conversations.
  4. Click Reply in the discussion post header to create a discussion board post
    The Reply button appears at the top-right area of the discussion post header.
  5. (Optional) edit the subject of the message to let readers know the content of your post
  6. Enter post text
  7. Click Submit at the top or bottom of the page
    Note You can also choose to save the post a draft to edit at a later time.

Reply directly to a post

  1. Choose a post from the nested discussion thread you want to reply to
  2. Click Reply in the discussion post header to create a discussion board post
    You can choose to reply to any message on the discussion thread. A new reply will be nested one level down from the original message.
  3. Enter a subject
  4. Enter your message
  5. Click Submit at the top or bottom of the page
