Journal comments are remarks are responses to a student's journal entry. Responding to your student's journal entries encourages intellectual exchange.
This document will show you how to:

  • Select a journal entry
  • Comment on a journal entry
  • View the comment

Select a journal entry

  1. From the Course Management menu on the left-hand side, select Control Panel
  2. Click Course Tools
  3. Click Journals
    The Journals can be found under Course Tools in the Course Management menu.
  4. Under the Entries column, check for journals that are marked as having new entries
  5. Select a journal with new entries
    Journals with new entries will be indicated with a number within parenthesis under the Entries column, e.g. (3 new).

Comment on a journal entry

Students who have new journal entries will be marked with a thumbtack icon (Connect Thumbtack Icon.png).

  1. In the More Journals section on the right-hand side, click on the student's name whose journal you want to comment on.
    Under the More Journals section on the right-hand side, students' names with a thumbtack icon indicates new entries.
  2. Click Comment at the bottom-right corner of the journal entry
    The Comment button is located at the bottom-right corner of a journal entry section.
  3. Enter a comment
  4. Click Add at the top or bottom of the section

View the comment

  1. Click on the Comments link on the bottom-left corner of the journal entry
  2. View the comments you have added to the journal entry
    By default, comments are hidden. You can open them by clicking on Comments on the bottom-left corner of the entry.
