The Relationship between the Material Properties and the Wave Strength

Abstract

This experiment explores the relationship between solid media and sound wave propagation by measuring the probability of sound waves in various materials. These findings contribute to our understanding of how different solids transmit sound and have implications for applications in materials science, acoustics, and engineering(Cheruvier & Winicler, 1987). According to the available materials, four materials are selected as the sound transmission barriers: corrugated paper, iron, plastic, and wood; meanwhile, the air conditioner is set as the reference group (Altman, 1992). Use the decibel detector in the speaker, microphone, and mobile phone to study the sound intensity after passing through different media (referring to the sound intensity db detected by the decibel detector at the terminal) (Altman, 1992). This experiment shows that different solid media exhibit different sound wave propagation capabilities, as shown below. The intensity of sound after propagating through a specified medium. These findings contribute to our understanding of the acoustic properties of metals, plastics, and wood and have potential applications in fields such as materials science and engineering.
