Comparative anaylsis: Correlation of Crime Rate Decline and COVID-19 Outbreak in Canada in 2020 Compared to the Period 2017 to 2019

Abstract

In the past few years, the prevalence of the COVID-19 has had many impacts on the development of the global society. The impact of the COVID-19 in Canada was multifaceted. Therefore, in this project, we investigated what correlation between crime rates and COVID-19 in Canada. To study the relationship between the crime rate and the COVID-19, we plan to collect the crime data of Canadian provinces before the COVID-19 in 2017-2019 and compare the crime rate with that after the full outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 through correlation analysis and comparative analysis.

Haobo Li:

Haobo Li is a first-year student in Vantage Science at the University of British Columbia. His interest in programming and data analysis, so he plans major faculty of statistics or mathematics at UBC

Minghao Cao:

Minghao Cao is a first-year student in Vantage Science at the University of British Columbia. His general interest is in mathematics, and he plans to major in the faculty of Mathematics at UBC
