The relationship between the top angle of the triangle and the load-bearing capacity of the structure.

Abstract

In 2019, Manav Patel and Manas Bhoi (2019) conducted research about the relationship between ultimate bearing capacity of the footing and shape of the footing (Circular, Square and Rectangular). However, there are only 4 shapes were examined in the experiment which are strip, circular, square, and rectangular. Triangular shape is still missing in this examination. Triangle is the strongest shape due to the stable three sides structure (High Touch High Tech., n.d) and triangular structure allows the force applied to be distributed well to each side (Milani et al., 2006).

Therefore, the goal of this study is to investigate the degree change effects of the top angle of triangles to the center weight-load capacity of bridge structure. The experiment will be contented by varying the angle of the top angle and applying weight in the middle of the bridge, then the load-bearing threshold of the bridge structure is repeatedly measured and recorded for different angles of the top angle, then plot out a graph to determine the relationship between.

I am currently an first year international student from China, and studying in UBC vantage college. I am currently interesting in learning statistic and looking forward, hoping to study about data science. In this experiment, I am mainly responsible for the planning and execution of the experiment.
