What is your research question?

How does the citizen's view of individual contributions relate to their willingness to reduce the Greenhouse Gas effect in Vancouver?

Research proposal keywords or concepts

  1. Greenhouse gas effect
  2. Individual contribution
  3. Awareness

How would you summarize your proposed research idea?

Our proposal is about the study of people’s awareness and willingness to make some changes to the Greenhouse gas effect. This study would be carried out by having participants fill out the surveys, and we would analyze the data to see the correlation between awareness and willingness.

Where is the literature gap and how does your proposed research attempt to fill that gap?

The gap in the literature is the impact of climate change, whether people who live in Vancouver's daily lives are affected by greenhouse gases and how to change global warming. Our research focused on the impact of excessive greenhouse gas emissions and the mitigation measures for greenhouse gas emissions. People have realized that solving the problem of global warming can only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, not eliminate them.

Why is this gap worthy of research?

Different people have different awareness of environmental protection, but for environmental protection, some changes of each person will play a role. Also, people's knowledge reserve may be related to their awareness of environmental protection and if people are concerned about the environmental impact of greenhouse gases.

What future change could this research possibly contribute to, related to sustainability?

We hope that through this research study, more people will be aware of the greenhouse effect, and morepeople will be able to make changes in their own actionsand practice long-term sustainable development from multiple aspects of individual, collective and society.

What made your group interested in and/or what excites you about your proposed topic?

In our daily life, we often encounter the slogan about the environment friendly and policy of sustainable development, and we also learn about the knowledge related to greenhouse gases and greenhouse effect through the advertising videos, public service advertisements and websites. And our research topic further allows us to understand the thoughts and attitudes of others, and the impact on improving the environment and the status quo.
