Research proposal keywords or concepts

Educational Resources, Uneven Distribution in Shenzhen, Equity in Education

How would you summarize your proposed research idea?

The goal of this study is to explore the distribution of educational resources (including school teaching facilities, equipment, etc.) in Shenzhen, China. We will collect their understanding and evaluation of their schools from three different groups of participants in the form of questionnaires survey, so as to deeply explore the distribution of educational resources in Shenzhen and its impact on the equitable and sustainable development of education in Shenzhen.

Where is the literature gap and how does your proposed research attempt to fill that gap?

There is not much detailed research on the distribution of education resources in China's first-tier cities. The distribution in these cities is uneven. This study focuses on the internal distribution of educational resources in Shenzhen. Take three different groups of participants, analyze whether there is a gap in school education resources in different/same districts in the form of questionnaires.

Why is this gap worthy of research?

The uneven distribution of educational resources within a city will accelerate the social class differentiation within it.Therefore, through this study, we can improve the social attention to the allocation of educational resources in a city, promote the sustainable development of regional educational resources, and then promote the sustainable development goal of a country's education.

What future change could this research possibly contribute to, related to sustainability?

The optimization of education resource allocation structure can not only improve the quality of school education, but also alleviate the situation that the internal development of the city is not completely synchronized and promote its sustainable development. Therefore, it is conducive to promoting the equity of socially sustainable education (Xu et al., 2018).

What made your group interested in and/or what excites you about your proposed topic?

Education itself is fair, but the different classes of people lead to unequal access to education (Baisla, 2020). It is not difficult to find that in today's society, the scarcer educational resources, the harder it is for students to change their destiny with knowledge. Even if they study hard, the educational resources they can access to may limit their development, making it difficult for them to catch up with those students supported by superior educational resources. Therefore, we hope this study can improve the equity of students' access to the same educational resources and promote the balanced development of students and the society.
