What is your research question?

What is The Role of Electric Vehicles in Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Shanghai?

Research proposal keywords or concepts

Survey-based quatitative research; New energy vehicles; Climate change;

How would you summarize your proposed research idea?

The purpose of this research project is to prove that the existence of electric vehicles is beneficial to reduce environmental pollution. In this research project, the research team consulted a large number of literature and data to provide reliable evidence. Then, the team members reorganized all the valuable data and discussed how to fully present the data in the research report. A survey report has also been prepared to assist in this study.

Where is the literature gap and how does your proposed research attempt to fill that gap?

A large body of literature has investigated that how to reduce the emission in industrial model, little is known how to do that by traffic ways, especially how the effect of the electric cars in reducing carbon dioxide emission. For this, a survey which examine the acceptance of electric vehicles among residents of Shanghai, a city with 20 million people.

Why is this gap worthy of research?

In order to reduce pollution, the research group studies whether electric vehicles can guarantee zero carbon dioxide emission to achieve green travel and further protect the environment.

What future change could this research possibly contribute to, related to sustainability?

Electric vehicles can emit zero emissions while running, which is the best solution to help reduce carbon dioxide; thus, climate change will be mitigated. This research could contribute to future change in three ways, improve the environment, reduce carbon dioxide, and maintain economic development, better help support sustainability.

What made your group interested in and/or what excites you about your proposed topic?

We chose the topic of climate change because Shanghai is the largest city in China and it is the most vulnerable to temperature changes. We have seen a lot of news say sea level rises due to temperature changes, which will have a bad impact in Shanghai (Chen, 1999).The reason for the rise in sea level is the excessive emission of carbon dioxide, which has caused a large degree of pollution to the entire city. Therefore, air change will cause a series of serious consequences, so we are committed to seeking an environmentally friendly way to protect the environment.
