What is your research question?

What are some solutions to the water pollution problem in Soshanguve, South Africa?

Research proposal keywords or concepts

Water pollution, Wetland, Water purification

How would you summarize your proposed research idea?

Because of the severe water shortage in South Africa, we will take Soshanguve as the target to study the water shortage problem and solutions.

We found two solutions in Kheder's and McCartney's articles, which are the wetland and purification plant. In order to decide which is better, we will create a questionnaire to summarize participants' thoughts from the water shortage situation of Soshanguve and their preference for these two solutions.

Where is the literature gap and how does your proposed research attempt to fill that gap?

The literature did not clearly explain the specific time when the water pollution could be solved and did not provides solutions to specific area we want to study. By make a survey, we will investigate the causes of water pollution problems, make an accurate assessment of the local water pollution problem and give detailed solutions.

Why is this gap worthy of research?

The specific time to solve the water pollution determines when the local residents can have a good environment, which is a basic factor in research. Moreover, the solution to the water pollution problem in Soshanguve must be detailed research, so as to effectively solve the local water pollution problem.

What future change could this research possibly contribute to, related to sustainability?

This research can bring some help to sustainability. Once the water pollution problem is solved, people will be able to recycle water, which will clean the surrounding ecological environment and meet the water needs of our generation, and will also preserve more living resources for our future generations.

What made your group interested in and/or what excites you about your proposed topic?

Everyone in one of our teams is interested in African culture and has a strong anxiety about water resources. In the process of junior high school geography learning, we learned the world's freshwater resources are not very rich, while South Africa is a relatively serious area of water pollution. We are therefore curious about water pollution in South Africa and eager to consult a lot of information to confirm its progress.
