Biographies

Andy Zhou

I am a student from the Vantage College Arts stream, and I am from Beijing, China. Hopefully, I will be studying international relations as my major in my third year. I like travelling around to explore different places, so I always prioritize sustainable transportations for my travel plan, yet my favourite type of transportation to travel domestically within China is the high-speed railway, which allows me to travel between places in a short amount of time while reducing the gas emissions.

Bella Du

Hi, I am Bella from China, and I am currently studying in the Vantage College Arts stream. Since I was born in a small city, I really like going somewhere else around my hometown for fun, especially the amusement parks during holidays. The high-speed railway has become one of my favourite ways to travel around because it allows me to enjoy the beautiful scenery when the high-speed rail is going through different cities.

Junhyuk Lee

Hi, I am one of the Vantage Art program students, and I am from South Korea. I am aiming to study psychology in the second year as my major. I have travelled to almost 50 countries in my life, and every countries' transportation was always an interesting point for me because I can find each countries’ effort to apply sustainable technology in their transportation. So through this study, I want to learn more about other people’s perspectives toward sustainable transportation. In addition, I really enjoyed using the tram or trolley while I was travelling to other countries because it consumes sustainable energy.

Edison An

I am Edison An, a current Vantage One Arts student at UBC, and I come from China. I am a person who is keen on travelling. In the past few years, I have travelled domestically within China every year during my holidays. Carpooling is my favourite way to transport between places when I travel because it not only saves me a lot of money but also provides me with the chance to make more friends, and most importantly, it is sustainable, which greatly reduces the pollution that people could potentially cause when they travel.

Brief introduction of our study

Our research discovers the perspectives of Chinese citizens on sustainable transportation in Chinese tourism, and the findings could increase the usage of sustainable transportation. We conducted several interviews with Vantage students who hold Chinese citizenships and have travelled domestically within China to collect our datas. The participants' views and ideas significantly contribute to the Chinese sustainable transportation development and promote the usage of sustainable transportation by suggesting their values in terms of transportation choice and sustainability to the public, which include the sustainable transportation developers.
