My name is Michael, I like to play video games and hangout with my friends. Usually, when I went out I will take the caps and never walked. So, our group is studying the impact of sustainable transportation on the environment in campus, mainly because of the research on sustainable energy. In my opinion, the main source of personal carbon footprint is people's use of transportation. For undergraduates, low-carbon travel is one of the things we all advocated, so we hope to be able to study the sustainable transportation on most university campuses. I am Lorena Yin, a vantage students from Eva’s class. Playing the piano, dancing and playing computer are all my hobbies. In our life, environmental problems have always been a persistent problem, and transportation is an important social element. In this way, the original intention of our group is to let more people know the relationship between environment and transportation. We want you to discuss why the government has taken measures for transportation pollution, but environmental problems persist.

I am Chandler Wang, a Art student of Vantage College and want to major in Psychology next term. It is such a wonderful experience to do a research project with my classmates in the first year of university. My project in the Capstone conference is about finding out the factors that lead to the sustainability of transportation on campus. This topic is important as the climate change these years. There are so many unsustainable transportations around the campus. So, my group mates and I decided to seek the reasons of unsustainable transportation and try to provide solutions to the unsustainability.

I'm a student in Vantage College, and my name is Vanessa. As a student in UBC who understand the concept of sustainability, I’m very interested in this project of VANT 149. I love sports, and actively participate in physical exercise, so I usually walk or run in campus in the morning. Also, I am a person who pays attention to environmental protection in my daily life. I found that there are many different kinds of transports in campus when I was walking, that makes me think about the impact of people’s choices of vehicles for sustainability in environment. That’s why I choose this topic of study with my partner.

Introduction to our project

In modern human life, fossil fuel consumption and emissions are unavoidable, and automobile exhaust accounts for a big proportion of that, which means transportation will affect serious environment issues. This project aimed to investigate the impacts of human's activities and attention for traffic pollution through collecting and analyzing data from our survey then coded to give results, which will help to measure the factors for the impact on sustainability.
