Welcome to Math 110, section 003! My name is David and I'm the instructor for this course.

Let me walk you through a few things about the way this course is handled. This course is designed as an interactive class. Students work individually and in groups during lectures. The reason behind this, is my strong belief that it's a better use of our time if we try to understand some math all together in the classroom instead of me lecturing and then you trying to figure it on your own later. This has a few implications. First, there are reading assignments for most classes; this guarantees that you come to class with a sufficient amount of knowledge to participate to the activities. Then, it also implies that I want you to come to class. You will be assigned to a group at some point early in the term and will be working with this group throughout the year, during lectures and during workshops. A significant part of your final grade is partly made of the work you will produce with your group. This is why it is essential for your success in this course that you attend both lectures and workshops.

Now to get you really started, make sure you get both textbooks and an iClicker (described on the main page). Your iClicker should be registered on the Vista page of this course. Have a look at the course outline and visit the other pages of this wiki.

Speaking of wiki, a few words about this wiki. The goal of this wiki is to be a forum for students to exchange ideas and work together on problems related to the course. You are strongly encouraged to post any questions, suggestions or solutions in the Math Forum.
