Here are some of my favorite rhymes and songs for babes:
Soothe that baby: Rhymes and Lullabies:
The Moon is round, as round can be
Two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, like me (end with a kiss)
Parent Child Mother Goose website http://www.nald.ca/mothergooseprogram/

"Lullaby" by Connie Kaldor
can be heard on her website at http://www.conniekaldor.com/kids-music/kids-music-2/lullaby-berceuse/
Lullabye, lullabye,Baby fuss and baby cry
You’ll be sleeping, by and by
Sleepy little baby.
Things go right, things go wrong
Hearts may break but not for long
You will grow up big and strong
Sleepy little baby.
Lullabye, lullabye, Baby fuss and baby cry
Baby slowly close your eyes.
You'll be sleeping by and by,
Sleepy little baby.

The sun has gone from the shining sky, Bye, baby, bye
The dandelions have closed their eyes, Bye, baby, bye.
The stars are lighting their lamps to see,
That squirrels and birds and babes, all three
Are fast asleep as they ought to be,
Bye, baby, bye.

Lu, lu, lu, litle baby, close your eyes.
Lu, lu, lu, litle baby, dream of paradise.
Mother is near by you, Father is near by too.
Lu, lu, lu, litle baby, close your eyes.
(Repeat and replace with names like auntie and uncle, Nana and Papa, or names of siblings, pets - whoever the baby knows).

Mr. Moon, Mr. Moon, You're out too soon.
The sun is still in the sky.
Go back into your bed and cover up your head.
Until the day goes by.

Twas on a summer evening, I walked the forest through.
When suddenly I heard it, a soft and sweet cuckoo.
Cuckoo. Cuckoo. A soft and sweet cuckoo.
Cuckoo. Cuckoo. A soft and sweet cuckoo.

Can be done as a beautiful round and you can listen to it on several of Kathy Reid-Naiman's CDs.

Tickle that baby!

Chickens in the barnyard, getting into trouble!
Along comes the turkey and..... gobble, gobble, gobble!

Whatcha going to do when the tickle person comes?
Are you going to scream!? Or are you going to run
Whatcha going to do when the tickle person comes?
Well you better, decide right now!

Touch that baby!

Kissy, kissy fingers. Kissy, Kissy toes.
Kissy, kissy baby on his kissy kissy nose! (or substitute baby's name)

Two little eyes to look around.
Two little ears to hear each sound.
One little nose to smell what's sweet.
One little mouth that likes to eat!

The "Belly Button Round" by Sandra Boynton
In the book "Philadelphia Chickens" by Sandra Boynton, you'll find the 12th track is called Belly Button (Round) or you can get the Board book with the CD!
Patty pat pat (repeat) Baby fat (repeat) Little belly button in the middle of that.
Belly Belly Button, you're oh so fine.
Ooo, Belly Button, I'm so happy you're mine.
A tummy without you just wouldn't be right.
Little Belly Button, you're a beautiful sight.
Belly! Belly button! (Yeah)

These are the toes of my baby to the tune of "Take me out to the ballgame"
These are the toes of my baby,
These are the toes of my guy (or gal)
These are her feet and her tiny knees
I can’t help it I’ll give them a squeeze
And he’s got two arms just for hugging
And hands that clap and wave
But it’s his eyes, ears, nose and his chin
That really draws me in (big smooch!)

"Everybody knows I like my toes" is on Kathy Reid Naiman's album, and you can find a different variant on Peter and Ellen Allard's CDs, but I've changed it so I can play more with baby's toes, knees, arms....
Everybody knows that I love your toes
Everybody knows that I love your toes
I love your eyes, your ears, your mouth and your nose! And everybody knows that I love your toes!
Everybody knows that I love your feet
Everybody knows that I think they're sweet
(repeat I love your eyes.....)
Everybody knows that I love your knees
Everybody knows so I'll give them a squeeze (repeat I love your eyes..)
Everybody knows that I love your arms
Everybody knows that they have their charms
(repeat I love your eyes..)
Everybody knows that I love your hair
Even though it flies around here and there
I love your eyes, your ears, your mouth and your nose! And everybody knows that I love your toes!

These are baby's fingers
These are baby's toes
This is baby's bellybutton
Round and round it goes!

Dance with that baby!

She didn't dance, dance, dance. She didn't dance at all today.
She didn't dance, dance, dance. No nor yesterday.
So dance her up, and up, and up, and up. Dance her up to the sky
Dance her up, and up, and up, and up. She'll come down by and by. (Repeat for the boys.... He didn't dance...) She is like a lady, she is like a queen.
She is like a lady, off to the fair at Nim.
So dance her up and up.... (and also "He is like a gentleman, He is like a king".... for the boys).

Circle of the sun is based on Sally Roger’s song
Babies are born in the circle of the sun,
Circle of the sun on the birthing day. (repeat)
Clouds to the North
Clouds to the South
Wind and Rain to the East and the West
Babies are born in the circle of the sun,
Circle of the sun on the birthing day.
Then change the words and I like to do it in the stages that babies develop from birth, to smile, to laugh, to walk, to talk and like to finish it with "Babies learn to love"

“Babies learn to smile…”
“Babies learn to laugh…”
“Babies learn to walk…”
“Babies learn to talk…”
“Babies learn to love…”

Take care of that baby!

Diapering rhymes:

Leg over leg, the dog went to Dover.
He came to a stile, and WHOOPS! He went over!

1 button, 2 buttons, 3 buttons 4.
Putting baby's diaper on like we've done before.
4 buttons, 3 buttons, 2 buttons, 1.
No baby's diaper's on, and we're done.
Nice clean bum!

Songs and rhymes to get baby to eat!

Sitting in my High Chair by Hap Palmer.
Sitting in my high chair, my chair, high chair.
Sitting in my high chair, banging my spoon.
Sitting in my high chair, my chair, high chair.
Sitting in my high chair. Feed my soon!

Bring on a plate, bring on a cup.
Dad is going to fill this baby up.
Bring on bananas, bring on the bread.
Mom will get this baby fed.

Repeat Sitting in my high chair chorus and then feel free to add verses about favourite foods!
Bring on the carrots, bring on the peas.
Mama come feed this baby please.
Bring on the yoghurt, bring on the yams.
I am hungry , yes I am.

Palmer finishes his song with
Bring on a napkin, bring on a sponge
Clean me up cause I am all done.

Pizza Pickle Pumpernickel by Dennis Lee from Jelly Belly

Pizza pickle pumpernickel

Somebody here is going to have a tickle!

One for his nose and

One for his toes and

One for his tummy where the hotdog goes!

(or whatever the child likes to eat!)
