Week 4

Blog Posting Tips

  • Clearly identify yourself as UBC students in LFS 350 on your home page
  • If you refer to others' work (e.g. academic papers, TED talks, etc) use in-text citations and include a bibliography section at the end of the posting
  • Use images
  • Refer to the Blog Resources on the course website for further tips (http://lfs-350a.sites.olt.ubc.ca/resources/blogging-tips/)
  • Be creative with your "hook" - how will you entice the reader to keep reading?
  • Modify your blog post based on the feedback you receive from the teaching teams.
  • Try to balance professional and creative elements in your postings (i.e. you are representing your future selves, your community partners and the Faculty of Land and Food Systems
  • The Final Mark for the blog will be given at the end of the term (i.e. you will be expected to modify your blog postings throughout the term and you overall grade may increase!)

How to Write a Proposal

  • Make sure you check out the Additional Resources in Session 4 Notes for tips on writing a proposal
