Course:INDE410
Welcome to the IMP, NMP, VFMP Clinical Skills Resource Wiki.
Clinical Skills is a two-year course for 1st and 2nd year undergraduate medical students. Lectures and seminars are used to teach an approach to system-specific history taking, while small groups provide students with an opportunity to practice history taking and physical examination skills on volunteer patients, standardised patients (trained to undertake specific patient roles), clinical teaching associates (trained to undertake and co-tutor the sensitive breast and pelvic physical examinations), hospital in-patients and out-patients.

FAQs
Q: Students often ask us if they can shadow physicians/surgeons. Here’s the file path to the official policy.
MEDICOL> Program Objectives & Policies and Procedures> 1st & 2nd Year Manual> 6.1 Students Engaging in Clinical Activities
The shadowing experience is intended for observation only. Physicians won’t typically do any formal teaching but will permit students to watch and listen. We really appreciate the physicians who allow students to ‘shadow’ – we think it gives students a unique glimpse into a number of specialties early in their training.
