My lesson was created for Grade 6 students, who are investigating the Seasons. The unit, Out of This World, in grade 6 science deals with the solar system and space. I have found there are many misconceptions about the seasons, when I have taught this lesson previously. I refrained from using simply technology, but instead went with balloons as models, to make the activity more hands-on. I added a link to a website to reinforce the learning.

Joel May

My lesson was designed for on-boarding of new staff at SAIT Polytechnic. I used a free website creation tool called Weebly. The website focuses on online reserach that build on the knowledge of the participants and the collaboration of the group to expand everyone's knowledge. The simple evaluation is built into the website.

For my course, I designed my lessons based on a mix of constructivist strategies. I used my grade 7 students inquiry book club called "Following the Evidence" to create a website that would facilitate their learning and blend with the projects they are working on in class. The website focuses on the mystery of inferences and leads students through a series of activities, discussions and projects. The website is driven by student learning and is still a work in progress.

For my lesson I went with the Constructivist Instructional Model (CIM). I have hosted by lesson UBC Blogs, and have modeled it on a online Spanish 11 concept. The intent of the lesson is to provide students with an opportunity to engage with authentic Spanish culture and politics. Their project is to create a short video discussing a cultural/political issue that intrigues them personally.

I created my constructive EFL news story writing lesson for Korean high school students (in Korea) at an upper intermediate/advanced level. If I had to stick to the one hour lesson time-frame, then this online lesson would be broken down into two lessons. The 'Home,' 'Instruction,' 'Example,' and 'Activity 1' sections would covered in lesson 1, while 'Activity 2' would be part of the subsequent lesson. I used Weebly.com to create my constructivist learning site.

For my lesson I created a Mobile Goal Setting lesson created using Weebly.com and accessible on all Mobile devices. This lesson is appropriate for High School or Post-graduate students.

I created a lesson plan to use with adult educators. I lead workshops for the IBO that last three days, but there are a lot of changes to the program this year, and I thought that a pre-workshop seminar would help to get the participants thinking about the topic and exploring some of the key issues in advance of our coming together. This workshop will be sent out to participants today, one week ahead of the workshop I will be leading in Lisbon next weekend.

My lesson plan might be different for what has been offered so far because I think mine is the only one that deals with ESL learning. The target students are adult learners whose first language is not English. The plan which is attached as a WORD file (and also as a PDF) is based on my experience of teaching ESL in Vancouver. The learners are beginners (CLB 2 or as they call it now LINC 2).

I created a lesson plan for Calculus 12 in the BC curriculum. I developed my project to focus on project based learning and created a blog to display my lesson plan and assessment rubric. You can get to the blog by clicking here. You can also download the word documents from this site or from below.
