NOAA Research is the website of the US Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, and it allows you to search across the research imagery produced by the various laboratories and organizational units of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

License

Generally speaking, NOAA Research images are not copyrighted, and may be freely reproduced and distributed for educational purposes. That said, some of the images do include a copyright notice, and it is the responsibility of the user to obtain permission from the copyright holder before using these images. For those images that do not have copyright notices, the NOAA asks that users:

  • Acknowledge NOAA Research as the source of used material
  • Do not state or imply the endorsement by NOAA Research or by any NOAA Research employee of a commercial product, service or activity, or used in any other manner that might mislead the public
