About 217

Room 217 in Koerner Library provides access to PC workstations with a wide range of software, including productivity, GIS, and statistical software.

Hours: Same hours as Koerner Library; please visit Koerner's website for more information.

Location: The Instructional Lab in the Koerner Library (room 217) is located on level 2, at the end of the main corridor by the map cabinets.

Directions:

  • Enter the Koerner Library (1958 Main Mall) **Note, the entrance to Koerner Library is on floor 3 of the building.
  • Proceed downstairs one floor to level two and follow the corridor past the help desk. You will see several blocks of metal map cases on your right.
  • Turn right at the end of the map cases and you will see the lab in Room 217 between rooms 218A and 216.

Technology & Facilities

Software:
In addition to software provided on all library public machines, Room 217 computers include:

  • ArcGIS suite
  • SPSS statistical software package
  • FME suite, including the Universal Translator

Access

Policies & Procedures: The room is accessible on a first-come, first-served basis any time that Koerner Library is open and there isn't a class being held in the room.
To check room availability, please check the calendar posted on the wall outside the room, or see the online calendar of events.
Please note that when you log out of the lab's computers, all files stored on the computer will be deleted. Please store all files on an external storage device.

For assistance or training related to our SPSS and ArcGIS software see the contacts below. All other queries related to the software and workshops at Koerner Library should be directed to the Research Commons help desk or to your workshop facilitator.

About 216

Room 216 in Koerner Library hosts a variety of Library workshops and events, such as the Graduate Workshop Series, the Research Commons Workshop Series and the monthly Cinema Salon.

Hours: Open for the duration of your workshop and/or Cinema Salon. When you register for an event your confirmation email will confirm the workshop/Cinema Salon date and time.

Location: The Classroom in the Koerner Library (room 216) is located on level two, at the end of the main corridor by the map cabinets.

  • Enter the Koerner Library (1958 Main Mall) **Note, the entrance to Koerner Library is on floor 3 of the building.
  • Proceed downstairs one floor to Floor 2 and follow the corridor past the help desk. You will see several blocks of metal map cases on your right.
  • Turn right at the end of the map cases and walk past the GIS lab (Room 218A) and the computer lab (Room 217). The last room on the corridor is 216.

Technology & Facilities

The room contains wheeled tables which may be reconfigured to suit the needs of a particular event. There is an instructor workstation and overhead projector but there are no public workstations in the room. If your workshop has a computer/internet access component you will be asked to bring your own device. **Note, electrical plug-ins are limited in the room - be sure your devices are fully charged prior to your event.

Access

Policies & Procedures: The room is accessible to participants in events which are being held in the room, for the duration of the event. It is only available to book for Library events.
