Summary

Description
English: The route to human infection by S. enteritidis. A diversity ofenvironments, living and inanimate, are colonized or infected. Eggsare said to be contaminated rather than infected, as they are notfertile and do not contain living cells. For epidemiological purposes, the route is primarily linear, with humans as the end host; however, transmission of infection from humans to chickens suggests thatthe route can be cyclical.
