Summary

Description
English: Figure 4: A model of a trumpet with a stem-in Harmon mute. The note played by the trumpet resonates not just with the trumpet, but the tube formed by the Harmon stem. The stem effectively forms an extension of the instrument, which produces a drastically different sound by altering the timbre (or wave shape) of the sound while keeping other factors, such as amplitude and frequency, relatively similar.
