English: GHARIAL (Gavialis gangeticus) - Critically Endangered - Estimated population ~ 600-900 individuals. A fish-eating crocodile native to sandy freshwater river banks in the plains of the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. Seen here basking on the banks of Chambal river at National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary.
