received. The lot of bricks refered to have 
been Sold to the H.B.Co. there are no more 
here for Sale Excepting 4000 at Alberni
that will be brought here in a few days 
and if they can be purchased at a reasonable
rate I will buy. The loss of the steamer
“Labouchere” has thrown a gloom over the 
town And despondency is marked on Every
Countenance  The rice you refer to is under
offer from a house here in town.  or at least
I presume it to be same lot area  they have
a Sample here and will send down an offer
of two Cents by this steamer. I would not care
to pay more and as the party here is a 
consigner of mine would rather not interfere with
him I believe S. I. [Sagan] is selling low with you 
It is worth her[e] no 1. 9{X mark} cents others in the same 
[ration] if you can buy 1{X mark} or 2{X mark} hundred kegs in bond
so as to pay Send it
