&Co do not give you a receipt for the
full amount of the advance as I have
to charge them that amount  Please

if I shall make it to you. is there
market full of flour.  Weather fine but
business dull  New mines just discovered
near Victoria   hope they may turn out

Description:  This letter to Royal Fisk was written by J.A. McCrea in Victoria, Vancouver Island on October 21, 1863 and sent on the steamer Sierra Nevada (Seira Nevada).  McCrea referred to some business difficulties with Martenstein & Co; asked about flour; noted the weather is fine but business slow; and indicated that new mines were found near Victoria.
