June 3. 1863 R Fisk Esqr Dear Sir Yours of the 27. received I Send to your care and for sale two hundred bags large Bayos beans which I wish you Sell for my a/c Messr Saint Price & Co [pass] them here at the original Chile [cost] and that will be the price to pay duties by- the beans [cost] [mend] 4 1/4 4 but i have more than I can sell in this market therefore you will Sell them at the best rate you can- Jam[s]on Bond + Co have a large lot of common tobacco in bond Sent to them from [China] if you can buy it for 15 cents do so & send it up do not let any one know it is for me with the proceeds of the beans you can by Say 100 Bbls golden Gate flour superfine 100 Bbls Indian flour sacks must be the same shape as the G. Gate. Some pork if you can find it 20 Firkin choice Isthmus butter and anything Else that is cheap-- Your Truly JA McCrea Description: This letter to Royal Fisk was written by J.A. McCrea in Victoria, Vancouver Island on June 2, 1863. McCrea referred to business with Jameson Bond & Co and Saint Price & Co, and provided trade directions for beans (from Chile), tobacco (from China?), Golden Gate superfine flour, Indian flour, pork, and Choice Isthmus butter.
