                    Yours of the 17th inst came to
hand.  in regard to the cheese it was duly received 
and I will try and close it before the next steamer
leaves  There is a report this morning that the Naramisic
is on shore of Clover point  are my goods insured
against partial or only total loss.  Enclosed 
please find W F &Co Draft. no.1000 for the sum of Seventy-
two & 07/100 Dollars which please place to my a/c
[t]hat small amount of drafts in favor of  Everett
you have not charged me with please do so in next
Statement Trade is very dull
You will please find Enclosed invoice and Consul[s]
Certificate for 15 Pkgs Tea. of a superior quality in
fact to good for this market  It is part of a large
invoice which I send you particulars of. I Expect
to sell them auction before long and want to Know
what I can get for them  your market if I buy
them They arrived here on the Bark Dove and are in
fine condition            Yours Truly

Description: This letter to Royal Fisk was written by J.A. McCrea in Victoria, Vancouver Island on February 22, 1863, and sent on the steamer Sierra Nevada ("Seira Nevada"). McCrea enclosed a Wells Fargo and Company bank draft, wrote about the trade in cheese and tea (referring specifically to tea that arrived on the Bark Dove), noted the Naramisic's arrival at Clover Point, inquired about insurance, and indicated trade is slow.
