Royal Fisk Esqr 
                         Dear Sir 
                                Your [favor] of the 18. came 
to hand. If you have to sell the tobacco as low
as 30 cents you can ship me back five case
and if you have to sell it less send me ten cases
as I can sell a few here at from 40 to [5]0. 
Such goods as the following you can send if 
you have the opportunity to purchase
Common blk Tea 1/3 u papers. Cal cheese. Guny bags. 
Send me five or ten casks of washing soda 
Ship this by first opportunity as there is none
here   get it in bond if you can. 
Ground coffee a good article.  In regard to 
flour I believe now I would prefer National
Mills- to golden gate  And if you can by me 
say 100 Bbls superfine in ¼ sacks and 25 Bbls
Bakers Extra in ½ sacks do so &ship first
opportunity  unless they have continued those
heavy shipments in which case I think I
had better let flour alone  Sell the tobacco as 
soon as possible & send me goods for it

Description: This letter to Royal Fisk was written by J.A. McCrea in Victoria, Vancouver Island on August 22, 1862 and sent by the "Steamer Oregon."  McCrea ordered black tea, California cheese, gunny sacks [guny bags], washing soda, ground coffee, Bakers Extra, and National Mills flour [specifying a preference for National Mills to Golden Gate flour]. Fisk was selling tobacco for McCrea, and McCrea requested he send him goods in exchange for it and to ship back cases if he is unable to get a good price.
