Summary

Description
English: The T3SS translocon includes the needle sheath protein EspA and pore proteins EspB and EspD. The translocon injects effector proteins into the host cytoplasm required for formation of the attaching and effacing lesion, including the translocated intimin receptor Tir. The EHEC protease EspP cleaves EspB, inhibiting this process. In contrast, the gut commensal B. thetaiotaomicron produces as-yet-unidentified proteases that cleave EspB and promote effector translocation and lesion formation.
