Summary
Description | English: Figure __. Some species of ocean bacteria can survive through consumption of oil only. Usually, there is only a small number of oil-consuming bacteria in a given part of the ocean. Following a spillage, it takes a couple of days for the population to increase and take advantage of their new abundant food source. In this figure, the bacterial population is gradually increasing from the left side and is slowly moving its way to the oil on the right. NOAA (2015) |
