Summary

Description
English: A three-layered cross-section. The top layer is an unconfined aquifer. A well was drilled into the confined aquifer and filled to the water table's height. A confining layer lies between the unconfined aquifer and a confined aquifer. Through the confining layer and into the confined aquifer, a well was drilled. Water fills that well all the way up to the potentiometric surface of the confined aquifer, which is above the confining layer in this case. The color of different layers indicates different materials, pink is granite, and other colors are different sedimentary layers.
