Elearning:Effective Practices for Student Quiz Preparation

From UBC Wiki

Be Prepared

It is always good practice to prepare prior to taking a quiz in an online learning environment.

Please follow the recommendations below before taking any quiz/assessment:

  • Verify that your browser meets the WebCT Vista requirements by running “check browser” located on myVista page.
  • Be aware that after 90 minutes of inactivity (i.e., log onto WebCT Vista but there is no activity within WebCT Vista), your session will time out.
  • Prior to taking the quiz, always log out of the session, close the browser window and then log in with a fresh browser window.
  • Click “save answer” for each question (this will ensure that your answers are saved).
  • For quizzes that require long paragraph answers, compose the response in a text editor then cut/paste the response into the quiz (good practice to maintain a copy of the answer in event of session timeout)

File submissions

When attaching a submission, please exclude special characters such as (% # - @ *) in the file name as they are not supported within WebCT Vista.
