Equations

Hi, which equations and constant values should we memorize? thanks

Alex, for the midterm you need to know definitions. e.g. θ_vol = Vw/Vt or Mw = weight of wet soil - weight of dry soil etc.

You should also know how components relate to each other. e.g. bulk density versus particle density or porosity and bulk density etc.

In calculations for water content knowing the density of water can come in handy, i.e. density of water = 1 g/cm3

You do not need to memorize complicated formulas like the capillary equation, but it is useful to know that large pores drain at low tension i.e. h ≈ 1/r
