The Woman and the Career

Hi! I just finished reading your wiki page and it was really informative for me. All of your information was easy to understand and I felt that you were really passionate about your topic of choice. Your references all gave extra information on your topic, and your graphs really helped me to understand the "Career Woman." It would have been good to leave in your conclusion what could happen in the future regarding the statistics you mentioned and these women (what will their lives be like in generations to come? can the statistics change?) Your information is relevant and it really taught me about a different culture and their portrayal of women in the light of careers and pursuing their dreams. Awesome job! Alexandra

Very interesting and informative

Hi, I found your wiki page very interesting and I agree that the term "career woman" has been commonly used in mainland China and perhaps Hong Kong as well. Even though the term "career woman" sounds like it has positive meanings, it is interesting to learn that this term actually contains negative connotations to a certain extent. On the positive side, this term is used to call the group of women who are smart, independent, and successful in their career. However, this term also has the connotation or suggestion that these women are considered to be "too strong" or "not feminine enough" by the traditional Chinese social standards of women. In the traditional cultural norms of China, women are supposed to feminine and submissive relatively to men. Therefore, the term "career woman" is a term that has a suggestive meaning of gender discrimination against women. Moreover, I think perhaps it would be more interesting if you provided more information on the section of "Prevalence of Patriarchal Society" so the readers would have more background information about the social position of women in the society.

Good page! A few suggestions.

Hi! I like your use of graphs and tables to organize your information, it is very clear for the reader to understand! I especially enjoyed the section depicting the differences in ages of marriage and births in recent years compared with before. I think something you could work on expanding would be on the term "Career Woman" and also to mention how the later age of marriages in recent years is related to more women becoming career-oriented rather than family-oriented.

Hi Alana,

Thanks for your suggestions. I have already worked on expanding paragraphs that you pointed out.
