Formal Analysis
Raphael Rosendaal's Hot Doom is a published artwork with it's own website.[1] This being said, he remains exclusive to his piece by selling the domain name, and by exhibiting his piece online.[2] As abnormal as this may sound, using a website to exhibit his artwork liberates a limiting gallery where individuals would have to travel to visit, rather, now his art is viewable to anyone who has internet access; this works a tactic, really. In short, his use of Digital Media and the internet aided enormously in his works popularity in growth since it's publication.
Exhibition Techniques
The virtual exhibition of Hot Doom resulted in an extremely positive outcome for artist Raphael Rosendaal. The use of a website for his exhibition has allowed tens of millions to view his artwork annually, and has accounted for this artwork specifically to gain such popularity (rather than if it were displayed in a gallery). Further, this artwork functions as an interactive piece as the viewer is able to "click" their mouse to make the lava burst from the volcano. This interactivity allows viewers to form personal experiences with the piece and further explore the artwork, strengthening the impact of the artwork on it's viewers.
