Curriculum Committees

Goals: coordinate the curriculum in a Vantage stream (Arts, Applied Science, Management, or Science) or in the Vantage Academic English Program, promote collaborations between instructors, advocate teaching innovations.

The Academic Director and the Director of the Academic English Program are ex officio members of all curriculum committees.

Program Evaluation

Goals: evaluate the Vantage programs, work with the Outreach Committee to communicate the results to the academic community and the public, spread successful practices and innovations, generate a public annual report on activities at Vantage.

Recruiting

Goals: work with the Diversity and Equity Committee and the Intercultural Communication Committee to develop and advocate principles used in recruiting students, report on the composition of the applicants.

Student Engagement

Goals: work with other groups at UBC to organize orientation events for Vantage students, work with the Diversity and Equity Committee, Intercultural Communication Committee, Outreach Committee, and TA Training and Peer Programming Committee to arrange a coherent, principled set of activities for Vantage students throughout the year, promote student engagement with the academy. Because of this committee’s broad purview, associate chairs are also assigned to assist the chair with administrative tasks.

TA Training and Peer Programming

Goals: organize Vantage-specific instructional training for TAs and new faculty, develop and maintain peer programming initiatives, work with the Outreach Committee to support the community of Vantage students.
