CTC3 ISS Best Practices Course role overrides - Correctness and Consistency

  • Not a substitute for correcting System of Record! (SIS)
    • Course role overrides should be the exception not the rule.
    • Changes should be done at the source (ie. SISC, FSC, etc. to avoid errors).
    • Sign off to override roles should be from the department head.
    • ISS can technically make the overrides but they need to ensure proper signoff before implementing
  • Record course role changes
    • important to have logs available for ISS to review when any changes in courses are challenged by the instructor so that user who made changes are accountable for them
  • Students with deferred exams
    • Course extension policies need to be taken into consideration prior to setting up a deferred exam.
  • Guest lecturers
  • Other special exceptions
  • Override add/drop events
  • If Connect doesn’t match SIS + Overrides, it’s an error in Connect that needs to be fixed.
