Media Zhuran Zhang

Media is a tool that people use to store and deliver information or data for the public to see or use as a form of communication. Media are intended to reach out to large audiences but media has evolved as time went on. Way before electronic media have been staples in our everyday life, people would use ancient cave paintings, drawn maps and writing for a way of media. But today, we use electronic devices such as televisions, radios and films to transmit the message that want to be delivered. Furthermore, there is also an alternative way to deliver messages using print media, such as newspaper, magazines or books. However, the company who control these technologies such as the television station or publish companies will control what type of message is delivered to the viewers and also how it will be delivered. This is very important because in these television shows can contain unrealistic portrayals and may influence young viewers the wrong way (Mary-Lou,69). Moreover, most recently social media has taken rise in the lives of many. Social media uses web and mobile based technologies to support interactive dialogue and introduce substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities and individuals. Also, social media takes away the need for actual human communication and the most powerful sources are Twitter and Facebook. Just to put it in perspective, 93% of businesses use Facebook as a tool for marketing.
