Creating a link to your project on the wiki

Step 1: Go to the wiki page for your term and section

A separate wiki page has been set up for each term and section of the course. Go to the appropriate page for the course you are in. Once you are on the correct page, make sure you are logged in with your CWL to UBC Wiki and the click on the edit tab.

Step 2: Add your link to the list

To add your link, go to the bottom of the list of projects and then type an asterisk * to start a new item on the list. Then click on the link button in the editing toolbar. Enter the URL for your project as well as the text you would like to display for the link. You can also add the link directly through the following wiki syntax:

[project-URL descriptive text]

Creating a new page

UBC Wiki is one possible platform that you can use to post your project online. If you would like to create your project on UBC Wiki, start by setting up a new page for your project. You can create your new wiki page locating it in your user space (pages in your user space can only be edited by you) or by adding it to the course space for ETEC 530.

Course Space

To add your new page to the course space for ETEC 530, simply enter proposed title of your page to the end of

http://wiki.ubc.ca/Course:ETEC530/projects

in the URL field of your web browser. For example

http://wiki.ubc.ca/Course:ETEC530/projects/YOUR-PROJECT-NAME

If there is no existing page by that title, then simply click on the "Create" button next to the search field to begin editing your page. Once you are finished, you will need to post a link to this page on the ETEC 530 projects wiki page for your term and section.

User Space

In the UBC Wiki, every user has a personal space where they can create pages that nobody else can edit. To add your new page to your user space, proposed title of your page to the end of

http://wiki.ubc.ca/User:YOUR_USER_NAME

in the URL field of your web browser. Your username would be your CWL. For example

http://wiki.ubc.ca/User:YOUR_USER_NAME/YOUR-PROJECT-NAME

Creating your project on UBC Blogs

UBC Blogs is another possible platform that you can use to create your project. Go to http://blogs.ubc.ca and log in with your CWL to get started. Below is a list of tutorials that will help you get started:

In addition to the UBC hosted services, you are also free to choose a different method for posting your project online as long as it can be linked to and is accessible for students and instructors to view.
