Sports Events: UBC's Okanagan campus has a strong varsity athletics program. The Okanagan Heat has recently been accepted as a probationary member of Canada West Universities Athletics Association. UBC Okanagan's recreation facility is the home of the Heat. This state-of-the-art facility opened in 1994 and is one of the finest in the province. The facility has been the venue for many provincial, national and international events.
