I used this to begin a service learning project with my fourth grade students this year and it was wonderful. It was an engaging read that opened up dialogue for my students. The historical information at the end was informative and at a live perfect for my students. This should be a must for all fourth and fifth graders. So should this author's next title: Phineas in Africa, The Sudan
