Hello LIBR 545 Students!

In past iterations of this course, students asked me to provide a place where you could all share titles of books you're reading with each other. Rather than the appeal factors paragraphs which may come with some pressure and which requires a whole paragraph, this page is a place simply to record titles and authors, and if you want to add other info, you can, but it's completely informal. It's a great idea and so this page was born. If you're not sure how to use the UBC Wiki, here is a link that explains some of the basics: [[Help:Contents|https://wiki.ubc.ca/Help:Contents]]
* Essentially, you will log in with your UBC ID and password, and navigate to this page using the link I provided in Canvas, or by searching for LIBR545 in the search box. Once you're here, you can click on "Edit" above and you should be able to add content, including book cover images if you want.
This page is for you students, so use it however you like (within the parameters of polite society and this course context, of course!). Simply start adding your content below the line and enjoy reading each others' contributions! I've included some genre headings as these are the ones students have included in the past, but feel free to add any that are not included if you have a book that needs a new genre heading. If there is another way you'd prefer to organize the page, that is also fine - it's your space, so make it your own!

Note that graphic novels exist as non-fiction and fiction, and they span all genres. If you want to have a separate section for graphic novels, by all means do, but perhaps, to assist your peers, indicate which genre they fall into. Alternately, you could include them in the genre categories and indicate that they are graphic novels. Either approach will work. Or neither - again, this is your choice.

For your lesson, you may need an '''adaptor''' for the projector (Fiona has one she can lend if you have a mac). The port needed is HDMI or VGA. Though, most classrooms at UBC seem to come with adaptors already equipped.

We will be recording the lessons, and I have booked the two '''camcorders''' that the iSchool owns, as well as two '''tripods'''. However, if you don't want to use those, or you don't get one (there are only two camcorders/tripods), you will need to have an alternate means to record your lesson. I also want each student to have a '''backup device''' for recording (can be a phone, a peer's computer, etc.) in case the main recording fails (as has happened in the past).

Hello LIBR 545 Students!

In past iterations of this course, students asked me to provide a place where you could all share titles of books you're reading with each other. Rather than the appeal factors paragraphs which may come with some pressure and which requires a whole paragraph, this page is a place simply to record titles and authors, and if you want to add other info, you can, but it's completely informal. It's a great idea and so this page was born. If you're not sure how to use the UBC Wiki, here is a link that explains some of the basics: [[Help:Contents|https://wiki.ubc.ca/Help:Contents]]
* Essentially, you will log in with your UBC ID and password, and navigate to this page using the link I provided in Canvas, or by searching for LIBR545 in the search box. Once you're here, you can click on "Edit" above and you should be able to add content, including book cover images if you want.
This page is for you students, so use it however you like (within the parameters of polite society and this course context, of course!). Simply start adding your content below the line and enjoy reading each others' contributions! I've included some genre headings as these are the ones students have included in the past, but feel free to add any that are not included if you have a book that needs a new genre heading. If there is another way you'd prefer to organize the page, that is also fine - it's your space, so make it your own!

Note that graphic novels exist as non-fiction and fiction, and they span all genres. If you want to have a separate section for graphic novels, by all means do, but perhaps, to assist your peers, indicate which genre they fall into. Alternately, you could include them in the genre categories and indicate that they are graphic novels. Either approach will work. Or neither - again, this is your choice.
