===== Lab Weekly Meetings =====
* Time: Wednesdays at 3-4:30pm
* Location: ICICS X015 meeting space unless otherwise noted
* Format: Individual 30-second slide updates followed by a research talk/journal club talk
* Description and Expectations: Weekly lab meetings are joint with the CARIS lab. You should try to attend the lab meeting every week. Each week, you are expected to give a short update on your weekly progress. Summarize the progress in a slide with a few concise key points that are also understandable by other students who may not be familiar with your project (Google slide deck link will be sent around). You will be expected to have an in-depth presentation of your work in lab meetings at least once per year. For this kind of presentations, you should prepare a 15-20min presentation with introduction/background, methods, results, and discussion. The presentation would likely be followed by approximately 10-15 minutes of discussion and feedback. When others present, you should work to develop the highly valued ability to offer ''constructive criticism''. Although this does not mean that you should feel pressure to make comments in lab meetings, quality remarks can help the speaker and make a good impression. For journal club presentations, you are expected to review a journal article that is relevant to our research in depth, by giving a summary of the paper and expressing your opinions on the work, as well as what we can learn and apply.

===== One-on-one/Subgroup Weekly Meetings =====
You can expect to have weekly individual or subgroup meetings with Lyndia to discuss research progress and other topics. The length of these meetings is expected to be half an hour, but could be lengthened/shortened as needed. These meetings give an opportunity for Lyndia to provide you with feedback on research progress (e.g. results, data, analyses), advise you on any obstacles, give you feedback on your plans/next steps, provide resources you need, and update you on any new lab development related to your project (e.g. funding). Please be prepared to talk about your weekly progress and plans in more depth.

===== Long-term Planning Meetings =====
At least twice per year, each graduate student and Lyndia will have a longer-term planning meeting to discuss your goals for the next few months, and how best to achieve those goals. It is recommended that you come to these meetings prepared with the main goals, deliverables, and timelines for the upcoming months to help guide the discussion. At these meetings, you will also have the opportunity to give each other general feedback (e.g. on mentorship), and have general discussion of career goals/needs.
