About

International Student, Volunteer, Foodie, Animal-Lover, Nature-Lover, Like Team Work

I am a person who loves nature very much. I think nature can give me a lot of fresh energy and vitality. As well, I like the rich and varied scenery of nature in different places. Every weekend, I go to the forest that is closer to my home for a walk, breathing fresh air can make me feel better and release my stress.

I really enjoy being a volunteer because I feel very happy when I help others. I have done more than 120 hours of volunteering in high school for three years, some of it were carried out on campus. At the same time, I also participated in some community activities, such as assisting in traffic management.

I like to work with others, and I also enjoy listening to other people's ideas. When I was in high school, I took a course called Leadership. In this class, all our work was carried out on a team basis. My teamwork ability was well trained. In the final project of this class, my team members organized an event with me and successfully invited 40 students to participate, this is really a great experience for me.

Academic Goals and Interests

I have always been interested in the subject of economics and hope to be engaged in this kind of work in the future. Therefore, my academic goals are to enter the economics major in my junior year and then study finance in my graduate study.

I am interested in many academic subjects, although I am not good at it. I like sociology and philosophy, and I think it's very interesting to observe human behaviour, and the philosophical way of thinking can makes me revisit things from a different perspective, which is very meaningful.

Academic Activity

In May of 2018, I participated in China Youth Business League in Guangzhou. That was the first time for me to take part in a business competition. Before that, I had not learned any knowledge related to economy or business, so I did not win any prizes in this competition.

However, this competition greatly stimulated my interest in economics and benefited me a lot, especially the case analysis module. This is a highly liberal method, I can take the initiative to analyze the aspects I am interested in, rather than following the teacher’s guidance. The opportunity to think freely was quite fascinating and I had lots of ideas to share. During the competition, I enjoyed the teamwork a lot and it really made me a more effective communicator and team player. Under the collision of different ideas from my teammates and me, we created the best solution for case analysis in Guangzhou regional competition in November of 2018. However, this plan was hard-won. After the first speech, we got feedback from the referee, who said that our analysis direction deviated from the theme, which made our group in a dilemma. Then I had a new idea, I tried to list the feasibility of this new plan and I successfully convinced my team members with the outline of the new plan. Since we did not have much time left, we need to assign each work to the most suitable person. I shared my opinion to them, to my surprise, my team members are very willing to accept my arrangement. In this way, an immature plan is gradually improved and perfected under the joint efforts of my our team.

Through this competition I found my interest in the future profession, I hope to be a successful businesswoman. My problem-solving skills, leadership abilities and interpersonal skills have been greatly enhanced from this wonderful experience.

Volunteer Experience and Community Involvement

When I first started to do the voluntary work in September of 2016, my intention was simply to complete the service hours required for graduation. My first voluntary job was to organize book in the school library. At the beginning, I thought it was a simple task, but actually it was very boring and tedious. I needed to identify the serial numbers of all the books, and then put them neatly in the corresponding bookcases. Due to this reason, I even wanted to give up volunteering, but my mother gave me a lot of encouragement. In order to motivate me, she also started volunteering, and this motivated me to insist on attending voluntary work. Since then, almost three years have passed, I have enjoyed volunteering very much. I volunteered at the Bethune Club and Terry Fox Club at the school and have accumulated more than 120 service hours. I have also participated in volunteer activities in my community before, for example, to persuade pedestrians follow traffic rules.

Through the volunteer experience of the past few years, my comprehensive ability has been improved, especially the ability to communicate with others. In addition, my ability to work as a team player is also greatly enhanced. I became a far more responsible individual. I will continue do volunteer work and try my best to give support and help to the people in need.
