In the time of my childhood, my mother taught me that as a youngster, you should always maintain the self-disciplined and optimistic qualities, which will influence your entire life. I am convinced of this, thus I adopted both words as my motto. perchance owning to these excellent qualities, I have attracted friends who are particularly significant to me. Constantly I think that I am quite unlucky because I often encounter ill-starred things. After thinking over, it is not. On the contrary, whenever I am abject, there will always be a person who guides me on the way forward. I am indebted to everyone I have met in my life.
Academic Goals and Interests
Learning at UBC, I am interested in history, especially the topic of genocide. During the research of genocide, I get the knowledge that I have never learned before. In addition, by historical imagination, I step into other's shoes and re-understand their lessons from their perspectives, which facilitates my ability of critical thinking.
In the future, I am going to pursue economics as my major because being an economist has been my dream since childhood. On the other hand, my father is a businessman, by studying economic, I can assist his career.
Volunteer Experience/Community Involvement
When I was in Secondary School in Richmond, I took part in an impressive activity: making cookies then sell them to other people and donating the money we got to the Vancouver Mental Health Foundation. When you help others with your own abilities, you will gain a sense of accomplishment and happiness. Working together, we can make the world a warmer place.
Music, Athletics, etc
I am an expert in folk-pop guitar. I was interested in folk rhyme, which reflects the author’s life experiences and resonates with me. By playing folk guitar, I can pass these songs to others and share this artistic mood.
Awards/Recognitions
During my Secondary School, mathematics made me perceive headache. Through days and nights of perseverance, I have gained good results in the math competition-Waterloo Fermat Contest.
Hobbies/etc.
In my spare time, I am an Advanced Open Water Driver. I love Scuba Diving, under the ocean, I have seen fish that are as dense as a storm, I have seen hippocampus with a length of only a few millimetres, I even have seen sharks in Palau. These are experiences that are arduous for an ordinary human to experience, which makes me linger on without thinking of leaving.
