Library:Scholarly Communications/Impact Metrics
Impact Metrics, including Citation Analysis and Impact Factors, involve various measures and tools that attempt to assess impact of research. This page is included to give a brief overview of some commonly used tools in this practice.
Use of certain tools to assess the value of individual research articles, especially the Journal Impact Factor, has been a source of controversy and debate, most notably in the December 2012 San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment. For more information, see Criticism of Impact Factors.
