Before you learn techniques for finding information, it is important to understand how and why information is produced and how to evaluate what you are reading.

By the end of this tutorial examining the differences between popular and scholarly communication, you should be able to:

  1. Understand the difference between popular and scholarly information.
  2. Have a general idea of where to look for publications (in print and on the web).
