  • Sylvia Han

Hi, Guys. I’m Sylvia, a students from Vantage Arts. Our project focus on garbage disposal. In my daily life, I pay lot of effort in garbage classification and recycling. And there is a completed system and atmosphere here in Vancouver. But there are also few negative behaviors which do harm to our garbage disposal even the habitats of animals. In this project, we payed attention on how garbage sorting and recycling will effect the habitat of animals starting from students’ perspectives. If you are interested in the sustainability of environment particularly on garbage disposal, Please join u. We will have an amazing journey together! Thank you for your time.

  • Lynn Chen

Hi. It’s Lynn here. My condition is almost the same with Sylvia. This is also my first formal presentation and I am very looking forward to it, and Sylvia and I have prepared a lot for this. We chose garbage sorting and recycling as our topic in the environmental sustainability because this not only is an important part of our daily lives, but also has a significant role in the environmental sustainability. Welcome to join us if you are also interested.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this online survey was to explore the opinions about garbage sorting and recycling benefit the sustainability of the environment of students’ perspective.  Environmental sustainability is one of the biggest issues faced by the human being at present (Arora, 2018), in which the main causes are the increasing population and the increase in per capita consumption (Lakdawalla, 2013). And this kind of consumption including some unnecessary waste which are creating from our daily life. Most of these garbage will enter landfills and cause great harm to the animals’ habitat. The usage of garbage has double sides on the living of people and other animals. On one side, the random garbage gathering and stacking will slow down the speed of garbage disposal and result land occupation and waste which tends to discourage the habitats of animals. On the other side, once we run the garbage disposal and make full use of them, it could supply daily food of animals and creatures on this planet will have a better living environment.

DATA ANALYSIS

DATA ANALYSIS
  • According to the data we collected, there is a positive relationship between how much people care about the habitats and welfare of wild animals and people’s recycling behaviors. It shows that people who worry about the habitats more would actually classify and recycle more in our daily lives;
DATA ANALYSIS
  • Moreover, according to the histogram, the frequency of our participants’ appropriate garbage sorting and recycling behaviors are tend to be higher after they coming to Vancouver and living for four months than before they came here. Therefore, we think that the higher recognition people have the more classification and recycle behavior will be done and it will benefit human and the habitats of animals more.

CONCLUSION

As most participants are come from China, and most cities of China are not equipped as completed as with cities in Vancouver, and people in Vancouver are living in an atmosphere with completed recycle system and people here have formed good habits. People who live in apartments classifies more than people who live in house or dormitories as they may have more completed equipment.
