How are Entries Organised
The landing page of the dictionary appears very minimal, containing a search bar, and buttons to access the info section and the settings menu. When users search for a word, entries are listed below the search bar which users can then choose from. Users can search the dictionary in either English or Dakota. The search function detects all entry options based on what is put into the search bar, displaying relevant English and Dakota options in the same list.
When an entry is selected, it includes the headword (in English or Dakota), the part of speech, and the translation(s). Variations of the word are numbered as sub entries. When looking at an English entry, Dakota words with audio recordings display a speaker icon beside them. This can be tapped to hear the audio. When looking at a Dakota entry, the audio plays automatically. If a user taps on a word within an entry, they are given the options to copy the word, go to that word's entry, or search the word (the latter two options both take users to the word's entry).
Users can save words to lists or reaccess entries they have already visited through the search history function. When looking at a specific entry, users can move to other entries using right and left arrows at the bottom of the screen. When looking through the dictionary this way, entries are alphabetized by either English or Dakota, depending on which side of the dictionary users are in at the time. Users can also see an alphabetized list by selecting the "hamburger" icon between the arrows.
