MediaSite is a lecture-capture platform that allows instructors to create digital recordings of multimedia-rich presentations. MediaSite records everything instructors say, show, and demonstrate with little or no interaction required, and it allows students to switch between multiple views when watching.
How do I get started?
First, determine the context in which you will use MediaSite. MediaSite is available for capturing lectures in three main ways.
- Built-in Classroom Capture: Certain classrooms are equipped with a built-in lecture-capture system, which allows for automated scheduled recordings. You can pre-schedule ahead of time when you want your lectures to be captured, if you are using one of these classrooms.
- Desktop and Mobile Capture: The desktop version of the MediaSite system allows you to capture a video by using your own computer or mobile device. The video is uploaded directly to the MediaSite Enterprise Video Platform, which includes a web-based editor for doing simple edits such as cropping/cutting videos and adding/deleting slides.
- Event Capture: Some faculty instructional support teams provide capturing services for special events such as guest lectures or presentations, using portable lecture-capture equipment.
Contact your instructional support unit once you've determined how you want to use MediaSite, and they will help you from there.
