CHECKLIST:
  • Identify potential impact: Why am I doing this? Who will benefit? What will it change?
  • Define objectives: What will students learn?
  • Develop an assessment plan: How will I know if I achieved my goals?
  • Gather equipment: See "What Do I Need?" section (Above).
  • Create a test file to practice using software and mic for audio quality.
  • Determine format, budget and timeline.

Have a clear idea of your objective(s) for the podcast(s) and state what you expect viewers to learn. Ask yourself, what do you want students to learn while listening to your podcast? How does the podcast support the broader my objective(s)? What will the content be? Come up with an outline or script to keep track of what you will discuss.

Use this Plan Your Audio Project Worksheet to help you plan your podcast.

TIPS:
  • Find a quiet room to reduce ambient noise during recording sessions.
  • Audio quality is much better when recording with external microphones.
  • Plan your podcasts into segments to minimize errors.
  • Use a general outline or script of your podcast to keep yourself on track.
  • Many people find 3 - 5 minute podcasts are the most effective.
