I really love this topic and am so glad to see someone tackling it in this project. I really like how much attention you are giving to CRISPR technology, as it is becoming increasingly prominent in the bio-engineering field, as well as the field of cancer research. I would highly recommend you check out this video on genetic engineering, and the predictive future possibilities CRISPR could have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAhjPd4uNFY The video is part of an educational series made by a Danish group called Kurzgesagt (which means 'In a Nutshell'). I believe they will be an awesome source for you, as well as highly entertaining in the way they present highly complicated subjects. I am very excited to see where you wiki page ends up!
Hi there! I think you have a really interesting topic for your wiki page! I think it's a great idea to have the timeline of genetic engineering as a whole. As a suggestion, it might be interesting to see what political challenges genetic engineering assumes as it's still quite a controversial topic in our world today. I would also suggest to add a section on maybe why people want to improve the technology for genetic engineering. How does it benefit society as a whole? Overall, its a great start!
Hello, I think you have a very good structure! It wasn’t hard to follow your topic outline. My suggestion for you is adding peer-reviewed research papers/ data to back up your findings for each category! I think your wiki page will be even more enhanced and informative with references. Wish you all the best and I can’t wait to see it completed.
I think the idea for this wiki page is extremely interesting. However, I would suggest providing a definition of what genetic engineering actually is. There are many individuals that know what this is, but then again, there are others that do not. Therefore, I suggest using a definition of the concept you are exploring at the beginning of your page will make for an easier understanding for the reader. Also, I really like how you intend to discuss the ethical issues associated with editing a child's DNA. One thing to make sure of is that this section does not focus too much on your own personal opinion, as wikipedia pages are not so much a place for opinion as they are for facts.
Other than that, great work! I am excited to read the final draft of your page!
I think it would be useful to define whether you are discussing either genetic engineering in food/plants or genetic engineering in humans (eugenics). Both are widely debated topics and have long histories associated with them so I think it would be useful to just pick one and focus on that. Each topic brings on a multitude of ethical issues and it would be good to elaborate on these issues and why they are important. It would also be interesting to look at where genetic engineering is going and the implications it has on our future.
Hi Lauren, Thank you very much for your feedback! You are correct in that genetic engineering in plants/animals as well as in humans are widely debated. I will clarify that I am focusing on human genetic engineering. (I have started editing my page to reflect your suggestions.) Also, I can tie in the possible future directions and implications in my page! Cheers!
